Anti'd

Anti'd:
A few weeks ago this guy just showed up to church and we were pretty excited about that because people just don't show up to church. We started teaching him and he had already read all of the standard works which was really cool and my companion and the other Elder we were on a trio exchange with were really wowed by that and thought he was super solid but I was a little wary. Something was just a little off about all this.
A weeks went by and we weren't able to meet with him but this week on exchange with Elder Galmeister we went back and before hand I had prepared a little bit but I wasn't sure what to expect. We went in and after we exchanged pleasantries he threw a fat stack of anti-Mormon material at us. Most of it was garbage, a bunch of blatant lies and half-baked arguments some of the stuff he threw at us I didn't know about and I was caught off guard. His source was some dubious .net site or something. He asked me how in the world I could possibly believe the Book of Mormon is true and so I asked him how he knew the Bible was true and he dodged the question with some long monologue about Erastus in the Bible which didn't even answer my question. He railed on us for about and hour and  told us it wasn't enough to recieve and answer by the Holy Spirit (Acts 7:51) and in essence demanded a sign (Matthew 12:39).
I probably would have gone ballistic but The Spirit brought a memory to my remembrance. I once met a member from Ghana, she was very firm in the faith despite being the only member in her family, her Father and am, her uncles were pastors and always threw anti material at her. I asked her how she fights back and she said she simply laughs at them. So instead of getting angry I just told the guy we couldn't help him if he wouldn't pray and listen to the Holy Ghost and he didn't change his stance, he was still very prideful asking for a sign blah blah.

On a lighter note we had a really good week. We had a lot of good contacts with people and worked with a lot of Less Actives that reached out to us and wanted to talk with us and are trying to come back to church.
We also got a call from the Stephenville Elders and I got the opportunity to give a blessing to a member I used to work with in Stephenville. She had a hard time remembering names so she would use mnemonics to remember the names of all the missionaries. My name was A Team because Murdoch from A Team was her childhood hero. It was fun to see her again.

Love y'all!
Elder Murdoch
