Car vs Elder

Car vs Elder:
Friday, 1.25.19, 10:15 pm: I'm chilling in my Harambe shirt about to pray and blow out the light we plug our phone in and it lights up revealing we have 5 missed calls and 3 voicemails. We listen to the first voicemail from the senior missionary in charge of cars and he states very plainly "Elder Tafua just got hit by a car meet me at the ER ASAP."
We hurriedly redressed and raced through Fort Worth all the while I had flashbacks to my own incident with a car just 7 months earlier after all, we had driven through the exact spot where it occurred just hours before this.

10:30 pm: we arrive at the waiting room and Elder Tafuas companion walks out leaving Elder Tafua alone which in hindsight wasn't the greatest idea but we weren't thinking straight. Eventually the senior couple arrived and went back to be with Elder Tafua who was so out of it he was teaching the missionary lessons to no one but himself. We sat with Elder Theuson until about 12:00am at which time we were told to go back to his apartment to grab new clothes for Elder Tafua who wasn't going to leave anytime soon.

Saturday, 1.26.19, 12:30 am: we tried to gas up our truck but our new fuel card wasn't working we went inside to try and pay there but the card got rejected. We were quite the sight 3 well dressed young men the Nepali cashier asked if we just left church but we told him about our situation and he tried to help us but the card wouldn't work. We went and sat in the truck and called to see if we would get reimbursed if we used our own money to pay we were told we would be but as soon as i hung up a woman in a McDonald's uniform who presumably had been closing up the McDonald's Inside the gas station came out and waved at us she ran up to our car and told us not to worry for she had put ten dollars down for our pump. We thanked her profusely and took off.

1:30 am: I ate a hot n spicy McChicken for the first time since I'd left home in a parked car.

2:15 am: we returned to the lobby of the ER and Sister Blonquist one of the senior couples came put to see us and Elder Thueson went and saw Elder Tafua. We talked with Sister Blonquist until about 3:30 am when Elder Blonquist rolled the battered Elder Tafua out in a wheel chair the original plan was to take him back to our apartment with his companion and we'd sleep on the floor but then it was decided he'd spend a few says with the Blonquists until he can walk again.

4:30 am: we finally return home and with special permission we sleep in.

1:00 pm: we have a baptism and go to Braums afterwards.

I love y'all!
