Assistant Exchange

Not too much happened this week. Most things went by without incident. We did have an exchange with the assistants and that was swell. we had a lesson with one of their people named Jose. Jose is the definition of humility he was super receptive to everything and thanks to the miracle of technology we were able to have the previous assistant who went home, Elder Sherrod (also my former Zone Leader), call in and teach with us. He hadn't told his mom or any of his family that he was meeting with us. He was super nervous about telling them and said he would think about baptism until his mom said it was ok.
We followed Elder Bednars counsel and just asked a ton of questions and he started  bearing his testimony to us. Then Elder Balle asked him to pray about a date with us. He was super nervous but he knelt down anyway and said one. He felt very strongly about the 2nd Saturday in January. It was so cool to see the blessings that come from heeding the counsel of an Apostle. I know thus gospel is true.

We were grinding all week and literally no one answered their door. It was super rough. Then on Sunday we had two people randomly show up at the YSA ward and said they wanted to learn more about the church. It was super amazing. And then we contacted an African that ordered a bible a long time ago and eventually we just gave it to one of the kids who lived there because she was never home. But yesterday she was home with her Brother and they were super interested in the Book of Mormon and kept asking a bunch of questions and said they'd read it before we even invited them to.  Then this other African girl showed up that I had met on TCC campus one time and she said she wanted to meet up it was super cool.  Other than that not much happened this week. Thanks to everyone who wrote me this week I really appreciate it! On Monday we did a "service project" I put that in quotations because it's usually just serving ourselves by cleaning our sinks or something. Except on this occasion I actually wasn't serving myself. On the fourth floor many people were leaving. When I say many I mean literally every soul that resided on the fourth floor. They obviously had to throw away whatever they couldn't carry in their suitcases so that led to every trashcan overflowing and eventually spilling out into the hallway. I touched a half eaten bag of Tostitos and got toothpaste all over my hands. I wish I got a picture but I couldn't leave to get my camera until the job was done and my hands were still covered with toothpaste anyway. Also on Monday Elder Roundy left for Lubbock and left our district a present. His pet snail: Jim 3. Jim was his cow back home, Jim 2 died after they accidentally fed him a salty potato chip....
