3 Thanksgivings

Image
3 Thanksgivings: Not much happened this week except for the 3 Thanksgivings we had! The first Thanksgiving was on the Branch Presidents ranch. We pulled up and didn't know where to park. There was no one in his house and everyone else's cars were parked out by where he keeps his goats. We parked, got out and awkwardly stood there because we didn't really know where everyone was. Then the Branch President's daughter appeared and waved us over. She was leaning on one of those cargo containers big ships have and said, "You can go inside." We noticed a door on the side of the container and went in. There was almost no light inside and so we weren't really sure what was up. I was expecting a room full of chickens and everyone was just inside feeding the chickens or whatever ranchers do. But when our eyes adjusted to the darkness we saw that the container had been completely furnished on the inside to look like a normal house. The one container we were in had ...

The Other Waco Prophet and Turn Around

Image
The other Waco Prophet : We headed over to Waco for P-day. Our first stop was the Texas Ranger Hall of Fame which could really be renamed "The gun museum." They have guns from the early years of the Texas Rangers up until now. They have guns were never even standard issue with the Texas Rangers. They have guns that aren't even on the market The most important guns by far though were the weapons Bonnie and Clyde had on them when they were killed. According to the museum a group of former Texas Rangers ambushed the couple as they were driving in their car. One of the first bullets got Clyde in the head killing him instantly and stopping the car and the next few took care of Bonnie. But just to make sure they were dead the group shot the car approximately 180 more times propelling the car 40 feet forward into a ditch.  Bonnie and Clydes' rifles were awarded as trophies to the former rangers-- the museum took a lot of pride in that. That has nothing...

Tuba at 2 and Ugh, I go to Baylor

Image
Left to Right: Elder Bibeau, Elder Murdoch, Elder Rowley and Elder Parsons Nothing too exciting this week. Tuba at 2: We had exchanges on Wednesday and I stayed in Mexia with our district leader Elder Parsons. It was fun because since he was outside of his area and Elder Rowley was in Hillsboro I was the designated driver for a few days. We had a few appointments but it was really just a standard day. Around  2 am  I awoke to the sound of someone playing the tuba.  I sat up in bed, furious,   who in oblivion is playing the tuba this early? I stormed out of the room and prepared myself to go give our upstairs neighbor a piece of my mind. When I went to go get Elder Parsons I realized he was still asleep, I also realized that there was no tuba. Elder Parsons just snores REALLY loudly.  I got back in bed, and probably just stared at the ceiling for an hour trying to sleep but the snoring was killing me. You might be saying to yourself...

Bovinephobia and In Loving Memory

Image
Not a whole lot happened this week but I do have a few good stories Bovinephobia: Earlier this week we headed out into the country to find a less active member. We didn't have her number or email or really any form of contact information, just her address-- out in the middle of nowhere. When we got to the address there were actually 2 houses that matched the address. One had a really long dirt driveway, the other was just on the side of the road. We first attempted to go down the one with the long driveway. There was a cattle guard separating the dirt driveway from the highway and as we drove along and noticed some cows along the side of the driveway. There was no fence separating us from them but I didn't think it was a big deal, however,  Elder Rowley was nervous. The cows started trotting after us, not really running but trotting. Elder Rowley gunned it for the house eventually we passed over another cattle guard so the cows didn't follow us. We pulled up and reali...
